ESPN may just start offering all its networks streaming
ESPN bought a 1/3 stake of BAM for $1B from MLB for for a reason, and I would bet that they are setting up a streaming version of all the ESPN networks that people can subscribe to without having a cable/satellite subscription.
The NHL, MLB, HBO, WatchESPN/ESPN3 and WWE all use BAM for streaming all of their channels/games. With the exception of HBO, the NHL, MLB and WWE all charge about $10 a month for a subscription, and I would think that ESPN would charge about the same for a streaming service. Rumor is that the WWE got more money by offering its pay per views on the WWE Network for $10 a month than they got from their $50 a month pay per views because of how much of that $50 went to the PPV provider and the sat/cable provider. I'm sure that the cable/sat operators take a chunk of that ESPN fee they charge now for themselves.
